Info on 1G-GTUE Wed, 07 September 2005 18:48 Go to next message
Hey guys,

A mate of mine is looking to buy an import 88 soarer with a 1G-GTUE in it. I tried searching this site and google and couldn't come up with anything.

Was wondering if anyone can provide me with some info on this engine??? I know thw bare basics with it... it's a 2L 6CYL Twin Turbo setup... supposedly makes 160KW with 290NM... does anyone know what type of turbos?? How reliable are the engines?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

John

There are approximately eleventy billion threads on the 1G series engines around here. Search away, all of your questions will be answered.

Your search probably didn't reveal much because you got the engine code wrong. It's either 1G-GTE or 1G-GTEU.

160KW BAAHAHAHAHAHAHA GOOD LUCK ON A STOCKER
most of the stockers in utomatic are struggling to pull 100kw
if u have a gen 3 motor maybe a bit more
And yeah manual transmission ones will yield a bit more power

as the prevous guys have suggested search and u will finds heaps of info plus the difference between the 3 generations will also come up in the search

cheers

Gen3 1GGTE is rated at 157kW at the engine. You can most easily recognise it by the green injectors.

Hear hear. My car was idling perfect the other night, and no changes other than topping up the coolant and she was an unhappy camper again.

Checked your TPS? I adjusted and cleaned mine and it idles better now. I still need to adjust it a bit more but hey who's complaining. ME! because it keeps on doing that stupid "hits boost and goes into retard mode".

Feels like it's overfuelling actually.

Nope, haven't checked it. It was idling perfect the other night, but then back to uber rich popping and stuff afterwards, only difference was me topping up the coolant. Methinks I have something intermittently wrong with my cold start injector and it's staying on or something.

That's the plan. Why Toyota decided in their infinite wisdom to use such a setup is a mystery to me. How hard is simple cold start enrichment!?

most of the stockers in utomatic are struggling to pull 100kw
so a 4a-gze gives more than a standard twin turbo soarer......scary
