Oil pump question ( 4A Engines ) Thu, 08 September 2005 11:30 Go to next message
Rebuilding a 4AGZE and just wondering what should be checked with the oil pump and housing before assembling the engine ?

How we can check all is fine ?
Worth replacing the Gears ?

if you look in the workshop manual it shows you how to check the clearances, but there are a couple of different types of 4a oil pumps so you need the right manual.

doesnt hurt to pack the pump with a bit of vaso before assembly.

I just finnished pulling my oil pump apart and cleaning it. Any damage should be fairly obvious if you have it all apart, they don't fail too often. My 20valve probably did 120,000km back in Japan without many oil changes, and the pump looks ok. Get a new front oil seal while your at it.
