3SGTE TVIS question Thu, 08 September 2005 12:29 Go to next message
gday i was just wondering if any1 knew @ what rpm does the TVIS open with the 1st gen 3SGTE (st165), ive noticed with mine that it will reach full boost (10-12 psi) at about 2700~ rpm and it starts pulling a bit...but once it hits 3100-3200 rpm it just screams and rips ur arms out (bit of an exageration but ya get wat i mean), if this is about the time the tvis opens then it seems to me that its restricting flow for a little too long and id be looking into a way toget it opening earlier without doing away with it all together?

Doubt it'd be restricting flow for too long unless you have changed cams/head work? I mean, yeah I suppose changing the boost might make a very slight difference but I wouldn't worry about it if it was my car.

Just my 2 cents!

I've tried both on and off

makes no real difference dyno proven.
I still had a nice and flat rising curve.

If you disable the function it will most likely be just a placebo effect. but keep it the way toyota engineered it Wink
