T50 - Electronic speedo sensor? Sun, 11 September 2005 10:08 Go to next message
does the T50 have an electronic speedo sensor or is it a cable? i know that some AE86's in japan had digital dash's. are there some T50's with electronic speedo sensors or can u plug a sensor in from another gearbox?

im asking because my original plan was to use a W55 and use a W58 electronic speedo sensor so i can use a cluster out of a newer car. but now im going to be using a T50 after all

thanks

As mentioned its not electronic in the way your thinking.

The speedo cable runs into the cluster then its electronic even on the analogue clusters.

Pin N#7 is the one your after for the analogue cluster.

Im still trying to find the one for the Digital Cluster but no luck yet, cause im mainly lazy.

Hope it helps somewhat.

Cheers

Steve

Im guessing the JZA80 has a electronic speedo and you'll need the gearbox from the same car the cluster came from.

Converter, "i highly doubt it".

Sixworks in Newcastle would be the only people i can think of that would do such a thing but "i highly doubt it"

MAybe some searching and emails will help your cause.

Cheers

its easy to do

i sell electreonic sensors that screw onto the gbox
that send the signal to the dash

if the speedo is inaccurate then u might need a speedo adjuster

theyre about 220 bucks

so in the end it might be about 350 bucks in parts just to get it to read accurately

or u can get a 2nd hand speedo sensopr of the matching gob to save u bit of money

and see how far out the speedo is

anyway i have all the parts to do this and i can calibrate yr speedo too if u want me to

the whole job could end up costing 400 or 500 depending on parts needed
