4-AGE Black Cover 20v running too rich? Sun, 11 September 2005 23:00 Go to next message
I have just completed a conversion with a Black Cover 4age 20 valve (into 89 SX). It seems to be running very rich (black smoke on hard accel and black soot on bumper near exhaust exit).

There are no error codes on the ECU, I think I have all the vacuum lines right, has new plugs, air cleaner is ok, tried resetting ecu and I have checked the timing.

Has any got any suggestions to either isolate the problem or solve it?

O2 sensor is connected and seems to be working ok.

Running GTX3 oil.

Fuel economy is still good (500k per tank).

The annoying bit is it gives a slight cough every time you bring your foot off the throttle as you pass over hills etc. That is why I though it was running rich at this throttle setting (ie 5% or something)

I take it there is no adjustment for CO2 etc on these?
