Have personally done this twice without a press.

Not a fun job!!! and I would think it would sometimes end up with an unreliable result.

Find someone with a press who will do it for you, otherwise it will take roughly an hour to carefully tap it down Mad

1 for 1...

You need to angle grind down the side of an old inner race to act as your press (which you will tap with a hammer)

So that way you can get the inner race off once you tap it all the way down

It can be done w/out a press. When you grind the old one off it should heat up before you get through and you should be able to slide it off. Use a steel tube on the inner race when hitting it down. An even amount of pressure will be applied each time that way. Use a brick hammer.(Has a bigger face on it). Heaps quicker than tap tap tapping around the edges. Good luck, allow enough time. Wink
