Hi,

I called the NRMA, but they never came. Who do I contact to take away about half a dozen old car batteries?

In the case of the Campbelltown area they occasionally have chemical clean ups, what happens is they'll set a date and then you'll bring all your hazardous chemical/car batteries/old paint etc to a set location and they collect it off you. Very Happy Very Happy

Might be worth ringing your council to see what they say.

Here in the future (ACT compared to Adelaide) we have a place at the local tip where you leave your old car batteries.

Shortly after you drop it off a pasty looking nerd with a multimeter will "check" it and if it us useful to him, he then loads it into the back of his old cortina wagon to do god knows what with???????

Never heard of a battery pick up service though?

Just do what bogans do and throw it in the nearest body of water Rolling Eyes Mad

I'm pretty sure I can put them out with my recycling every 2nd week.

But failing that, the local tip has a battery and oil disposal shed.

Free to use.

You can take them to an autoparts shop. (eg.repco, autobarn)
they get them picked up from there by battery recyclers.

The staff shouldn't mind you dumping them out the back, afterall the company gets given $$ per battery they give to the recyclers. Wink

You take them to a recyclers and get a dollar each for them. It's a dollar you didn't have.
