Electronic Boost Controllers...which is better??

Hi all,
looking at electronic boost controllers and i have become lost in technical jargon. If you use an EBC, which one is it? and most importantly, what is so good about it?
I am looking for some guidance and inspiration here... lol

I use a Gizzmo IBC. Before that I had the Jaycar IEBC. The Jaycar was good, but it shat itself on me. The Gizzmo does pretty much everything the Jaycar one does, with more boost maps and automatic.
If you want the best, you'd have to be looking at a Turbosmart Eboost2.

i use my old a/c idle up soleniod as my dual stage boost controller, cost me $0 and works great. a/c button off = 7psi, a/c button on = 12psi.

the apexi's are good but i would still rate the turbosmart eboost as the BEST, i run a gizzmo contorller and this has never once failed me and its a easy small unit to run.

I made my own too, I used a gas shut-off solenoid, some wires a switch and some good old aussie know how. I have a gated high boost and non-gated low boost (set up like this on purpose ). It holds the boost rock solid through the rpm range, is easily adjusted and is virtually unoticeable. A flick of a switch inside the car switches between the two settings.
Why pay more

Another vote for the Gizzmo EBC..
Fitted it to my Cressida/2JZGTE and it works a treat...
hold boost puuuuuuuurfectly..
basically half the price of all the others, but I reckon just as good for "boost controlling" sure if you want to pay for a name, or want pretty flashing lights etc, get one of the Bling bling models... but for me the Gizzmo works perfect..
it get the job done with a minimum of fuss, is small and well built and fits just about anywhere and is piss easy to set, and use...

MR. 2 wrote on Fri, 23 September 2005 09:51 | gizzmo its not the cheapest controller mine cost me 350 or there abouts. But yes great contoroller 4 settings can be obtained bring boost on late or as earily as the turbo will let you, display PSI/BAR boost and some other little cool functions all done with 2 buttons how can you beat it.

have your aftermarket ecu control it

Here's a bit of info pretty much nobody knows..... the Jaycar IEBC controls a boost solenoid virtually the SAME WAY that an aftermarket ECU does, with virtually the same level of tunability.
Yes it is not closed loop
Yes it uses injector duty cycle for input "load points"
No its not easy to program like the ones listed above...
.... BUT....
due to the ability of the user to literally tune each and every input load point to whatever duty cycle output they like for the boost solenoid, your limitations of boost control are only determined only by the mechanical abilities of the parts on your engine.
For that reason i think they are great value, but they are not for someone who simply wants to push a button 30 seconds after installation and straight away get 16psi or whatever they want.

im with you jason, value for money you cant beat the gizzmo,
the best controllers i have ever used are the E-boost 2 and blitz SBC-ID 2
profect b spec 2 work well for about $500, the avcr is not a good boost controller if you want to run more than 18psi boost, but if you want to run less than that and have more wank factor than any other controller on the market then the avcr is for you

why is the AVCR no good for more than 18psi? since all any of these do is to bleed off air to the wastgate anyway...

out of the 10 or so cars i have tuned with avcr's on them they would not boost over 18psi, fitted eboost's to them and bingo anything up to 30psi is not a problem,
dont ask me why it is something to do with there soloniods...
