Hi,

Yeah, it's not cheap. Judging by the info he may of put in a 3TGTE engine.

The problem is that many people seem to think that 'cos they've sunk 20-grand into a car that they're going to get it all (or most of it) back. It just doesn't happen that way.

Anyway, good luck to him if he gets it.

The thing is he only needs to find one person who is proud of their homosexualtiy (Purple), is into Celicas and has some cash to burn. Then it should sell easy Very Happy

Funny thing is I know of a few cars recently that have sold for around that price when I thought they would be lucky to get about $9k. Just got to find the right person I guess.

PS I am willing to part with my car for $45k Very Happy Confused

The average price for the 70's Celicas is starting to go up again. It is getting hard to find some with rego for under $3000.

To get that it would have to be Mickey Mouse inside and out for me to even concider it.

If it is engineered and regoed and in a clean state I would say it will go in the realm of 8-11 grand. But there is very little info on what has been done to it to ask such a price.

The problem is that 70's celicas are still too easy to find. If you search on car sales websites or even here on toymods, 70's celicas are still too thick on the ground for their own good (well price wise anyway).

Give it a few more years and the price of 1st gen celicas will go up in value somewhat...well after all the rust buckets and ones stored in peoples backyards are turned into colourbond fences.

Its a kind of a testament to Toyota build quality though Cool

Are you saying that Toymods as a collective should stockpile all first gen celicas, and slowly leak them back into the general community for significant profit? I like it Laughing !! They can get as rare as they like now as far as I'm concerned. Just makes mine all the more special.

I had a guy that wanted to buy my RA23 the other day. He offered $1500, and assured me he was only interested in the body...

No thanks. I don't need to see another frickin' holden 308 in a classic Mad .

Yeap, I must say that when I first saw that RA23 for sale I was shocked. Thought I should e-mail the guy and ask him to reconsider his expectations... Stock as a rock, still 18RC powered, only thing done is a full rebuild... I think official market value for 23's is $3100 according to AAMI. You do have to admit though, if you are willing to wait long enough, there will always be someone who pays a high asking price. Just there may be an ethical issue there...
