Spanktown,

The car seems to be coming along nicely Very Happy

that looks like a huuuuuge water to air cooler...who made it up ?

What i am a bit confused about is the radiator in the side vent, if this serves the intercooler it just does not look big enough.

What turbo is it ? all looks very tight in there as well Very Happy

What else do you have to do or have you fired it up allready ?

somehow I think in the side vent that would be spanks heat exchanger for the w2a system, yeah it really doesn't look big enough though, wouldn't have very good cooling I would think, even if that red thing above it is a water sprayer, probably wouldn't remove enough heat for the volume of water in the cooler

unless its something else entirely its all good Smile

hopefully spank knows what hes doing Rolling Eyes

It looks like a 4AGE oil cooler i saw one on ebay yesterday. inlet/outlet piping looks very similar. I think that one has a rubber cap over the top outlet/inlet. Very cool idea having it in there. If it is for that massive W2A i think it would be a tad small!!!

I have begun a ghetto A2W Intercooler setup!

http://i14.ebayimg.com/02/i/04/ed/de/cb_1_b.JPG
http://i24.ebayimg.com/03/i/04/f4/76/15_1_b.JPG

I just picked up this baby for $45 off ebay. Screw you spearco!!! $1000 my ass!!!
Next on the list is a small motor bike radiator to chill the water.
Then a 12v pump capable of pushing more than 7 L per min and some tubing to hook it all up.

This is a ghetto project. I am aiming to spend no more than $150.
I will keep you all posted.

PS Does anyone have any pics or know of a liberty A2W setup in the AW11?? I am a little concerned about the cooler outlet. I will need a S Bend to hook it up to the motor.

make sure you put the 'biggest' possible aluminium radiator 'up the front' as you can dude.

though the side air vent catches some air while moving, IMO not enough to be effective enough for heat exchanger cooling.

the na cables on the gze box make the shifter nearly touch the center console when in 1st, 3rd and 5th.

yeah that seems to back up the problem i am having that the shifter cant get forward enough to get 3rd and 5th cause its hitting the metal bracket. The dodgy soloution would be to cut some of the bracket away but i dont really feel like doing that.. altho i do have a spare from my halfcut hmmmm...

I think the soloution is to weld a tab onto the front of the shifter that has a hole in it for the shifter cable and that should make it long enough...

Ill post some pics tonight

Scott thats really weird on the seats, when I had the celica engineered a couple of years ago, I did ask about fixed back seats, he told me you could only put fixed back seats in a 2 seater, or if you have 4 door vehicle you can have the front seats fixed backs. maybe ACT and NSW are slightly differant

1140 Shocked

Is it really that much Embarassed Embarassed fat little porkers, mmmmmmmminteresting.

Yep this seat thing is confusing, the last person i spoke to said it was an ADR requirement and something about 95th percentile position or something and the only way that could be achieved is with a reclining seat.

ITS JUST f!@#INNG BAD LUCK I SUPPOSE THAT I AM NOT WITHIN THE f!@#ING 95TH PERCENTILE THEN.......
Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

They cant seem to get it through there thick skulls that i am trying to make the car more appropriate...that is easier to control for ME not some other IDIOT........................sorry had to vent these !@#$ are really beginning to piss me off

scott just something i noticed when i was looking through the rta website is that there are engineers that are able to certify performance modifications which i believe is what the list i posted. Now dont take this the wrong way but there are also engineers that are allowed to certify disability modifications.

When i get home ill dig arround the rta website and you may be able to get your seat engineered that way....

but its just a stupid f*cking rule really i mean you dont drive an aw11 to go pick the kids up or to take the dog for a walk you drive one because you like to drive hard and fast....

im not sdure about this.. mine weighbridged in at 1100 with a full tank of fuel and all fluids. so the dry weight would have to be less then this.. admittedly mine has most/all of the sound proofing removed but it shouldnt make that much difference.

80kg of sound deadening ?

remember if the dry weight is 1140 and mine was 1100 full of fuel. so bargain 35kg for fuel. 1065 dry ? its a big difference to 1140.

im thinking an airbox from a commodore or similar that is easy easy to get filters for. and can flow more then enough air for me. then plumb it up so it mounts under the battery tray and sucks air in from infront of the gearbox where it should get plenty of fresh air.

that said id like to just be abkle to drive it atm Sad

ive been reading up on how to make carbon fibre with moulds etc so im thinking of making my own carbon fibre airbox with a pod filter inside. Then make some carbon fibre ducting from underneath the car somewhere..

edit: i know carbon fibre will conduct heat so maybe i will use Glass fiber

If you include all of the tar underseal that is throughout the car (cabin, firewall, floor) then it would be very close to 80kg. That stuff is very heavy.

One of my next jobs in the race car is to chisel off all of that stuff. I'm not looking forward to it as its a bitch of a job, but should be worth it for a 5% weight reduction!

Hope the mods don't mind me posting this...

Official invitation to the MR2 Club AGM this year. All welcome - members and non-members.

Enjoy Some Naked Leadership, at the AGM

This years AGM will certainly be a night not to miss. In addition to the normal formalities we have a very exciting night planned with giveaways, speakers and time to socialise.

Toyota Australia have again been kind enough to host the night at their corporate Head Office in Caringbah and have organised a sensational supper.

Our guest speaker for the night will be David Bentley. David is an accomplished author, trainer, coach and general nice guy. He consults to companies both in Australia and the U.S., such as Virgin Blue and Continental Airlines.

His book, "Naked Leadership" is an eye opener for not just bosses, but anyone who thinks they have what it takes to lead. It would usually cost hundreds of dollars to attend a seminar with David - but for the AGM, it's free.

So don't miss this night!

For catering and security purposes, we need to know that you are coming - even if you are not a current member.

So please reply to grantc@allprint.com.au , or phone Grant Cunningham on 0407 419 072.

We all look forward to you joining us.

Those who confirm their attendance prior to September 23rd will also go in the running to win one of our special give aways.

When: 4th October, 2005. 7:00 for 7.30pm start.

Where: Toyota Australia Captain Cook Drive (cnr Gannons Rd) Carringbah.

Yep the weight thing, will have to see what the engineer will accept, may be interesting with modifying what may be considered as a private import.

Its interesting about the stripping out the car. There was a guy that rallied an SW20 and if i remeber correctly he pulled out over 100kg of trim Shocked Dave may remember his name but i remember going for a spin at Wakefield park with the gravel tyres, spent most of it sideways Very Happy

its not a huge motor but a sc14 would be alot better for a 2.8ltr

The AGM is free for all to attend.

There might even be a specific give-away for non-members! Shocked

i swear everything the mr2 club (except hunter run) starts in southern sydney and then goes more south Razz

we missed the last run.. we drove to north sydney and one of my wheel bearings gave up Sad

grrr... it only gave up casue of the new alignment i got put on only thre day before... it obvisouly loaded it up slightly differently and the bearing collapsed Sad oh well new bearings time.

i havent had time to fix it up so i havent driven her for a fortnight. tomorrow it should be sorted though Smile

You know that we are actually thinking of you... giving you opportunities to drive your MR2 more and more Razz

We do try and share it around, but you're right, there are a few that go down south around this time of year. The Bathurst starts west, and a couple early in the year start north.

Certainly when i get back next year we will push for some more north events, as I am on the north side of the city Very Happy

Can't wait to get back and get into the MR2 again!!

i dont mind the extra drive but 3 houras of freeway + cross sydney fraffic each way can be a task. last run up macquarie pass was gret but the 6am departure from newcastle to make the 9am start in engadine was a bit of an effort Sad

thankfully theres no traffic aruond at that hour.

going back to the weight sorry, haven't been on in a day and your already half a page ahead Shocked post whores Razz

according to the AW11 archive http://shell.deru.com/~sgn1/AW11/Specsc.htm the US SC curb weight is 2604lbs the NA 2380lbs which in aus terms is SC 1180kg and NA 1070kg

On the engineers report for mine weight is 1140kg, I have also had it on a weigh bridge, And I am pretty sure I remember reading some where that was curb weight and the NA is 1050kg, I weighed my old NA and that was 1060kg, with half tank, must have been the bog weighing it down Laughing Laughing

The intercooler, if you have a keen eye is actually from Bens aw11 from when he ran the 11.7 and 11.4 1/4 in his mr2. You can see this gear in the fastest mr2 article in fast fours. I actually purchased this gear off him. OH and yeah, if that oil cooler was for my intercooler i would be a tad stupid Wink . Turbo is a gt2535, dynoed on sunday. Evil or Very Mad

You can never have enough neg Laughing Laughing the wheels look good but there is not enough offset........iam not happy unless you have them scraping on the gaurds Laughing Laughing

4agte, well if its not toyota that makes it a lot more difficult, how about vintage or country of origin just to make it a little easier.

BTW i have aquired a MS55 Crown ! stuffed if i know what i am going to do with it ! Its from my Grandfather who passed away. its still in his garage, has not been driven for about 10 years.

He got it in 1974 from a manager in Toyota, actually my Grandfather worked for Toyota at the time, he is responsible for our families loyalty to Toyota Very Happy

I am keen to get it going, its in very good nick but just has not been used it hasnt run for ages, 4 flat tyres flat battery etc etc, have know idea how i am even going to get it out of the garage. It used to drive like a dream.....time will tell

sorry to hear about your grandfather.

mmm crown guess you just have to suck it and see if its been in a garage for 10 years it shouldnt be toooo bad try pumping the tyres up and refilling the battery with distilled water...
The valvepsprings may be an issue if it hasnt been started in ages.
Finding a place to park it may be harder.

As for my car well vintage is certainly the word for it year is 1973 and country of origin is germany.

edit: i dont think ill be getting too many speeding in this one for now anyways.... Im sure ill end up putting a 1jz into it eventually

Change all the fluids, including the brake fluid before you try moving it.

Crank the motor on the starter without any plugs to get oil pressure up before you start it as well.
