You've gotta admire the engineering.

But the reasons behind some decisions (high-mount turbos with weird air filter placement where the supercharger should be, not to mention the twin charging) seem to just be for the wank factor.

it looks like theyve made an allready cramped engine bay even more of a pain to work on. Guess it must be quite quick

some interesting choices there indeed..

2 GT30 turbos... pushing thru intercooler then into the AMG twin screw SC (i assume it's the twinscrew off the 5 or 6L motor?,and because they can run it with the SC off and no bypass), then into the intake runners..

all well and good, but twinscrew has high outlet temps, always.. 16-18psi should be around 120-130C, and that temp going into cylinders is not so great..

as for turbo placement.. doesn't matter too mocu where they are... for the intake to SC looks shocking!! only an inch thick perhaps??

pretty, but not so well thought out methinks Sad... then again, where else will it all go Wink

Nah, I think that pipe from the i/c on the right goes into the inlet manifold. Looks like that to me.

The strange thing is that it looks like the turbos are feeding the s/c?! Unless there's a bypass pipe that I can't see.

Both turbo and s/c are before the i/c though.

That's my take on it at lease.

ahh wait, i see it now Wink Embarassed

both turbos feed the SC, the intake being hardly visible,
the visble pipe at the back of the SC is actually the bypas, an has a throttle and wastgate type actuator on it.. this is not the main pipe from SC to IC, as the SC outlet is actually underneath and not visible...

maybe it's not so bad Razz would stil hate to se the outlet temps of the SC tho, since at full bore the SC would have to be turning to let decent amounts of air thru..

kudos to them Very Happy

There is plenty of room in the engine bays of Subaru's, only thing that's a real pain is doing anything with the heads (like changing the spark plugs) because they're jammed right up against the insides of the bay. The engine actually sits quite high and forward though.
