CA18 is FWD engine? are there FWD boxes available for it, or if not, can the E series box be made to fit?

are you sure you want that much power in a FWD? Razz

No, ca18 is a rwd engine out of the earlier model silvia and 180sx.
. my question is how hard would it be to drop in. ? and change to rwd ?

SEXAs and Pulsars were available with a CA18 in particular models. There are two N12 Pulsars in Canberra with CA18DET engines.

If you are not learned and own a AE82 then a simpler conversion would be one of the 4A series of engines. Still a big job though for the not so learned Wink The CA18 would be a huge job for the not so learned.

change the rolla to rwd? If that what you mean unless you have thousands of $$$$$$ or know someone extremeley talented that ain't gonna happen. Just stick a 4agze in it, then when you get used to that convert it to turbo. Done plenty of time befor and more than enough power for the little AE82

Oh so we are talking more silly than in the first post and we are not too learned as there are CA18DET engines available in east-west configuration in AWD and FWD Smile

If you are talking about RWD setup for your AE82 using a CA18DET I suggest you get a tap measure and start checking dimensions and also talk to an engineer as you will need to do some serious fabricating.

I would have to ask though, why that car, that engine and that configuration. Sounds like a lot of effort just to be different.

That bit is easy. Bolting it in making it run and making it legal are the hard parts.

change the AE82 to RWD....

seriously, don't even consider it. it would need to be engineered as an "individually constructed vehicle", will cost a shitload even if you do it yourself (you need to put a transmission tunnel in and rear floor section for the suspension/diff location)

why would you want to turn a FWD shooping trolley into a RWD shopping trolley?
