Can anyone tell me the difference in width between RA40 and RA23 diffs?

Cheers.

yeah, the mounting points are the same. I beleive that TA22/*A23/RA28/RA40 diffs all have the same mountings, but they get progressively wider in order of chronology.

No G series for me! F all the way... 'twill be IRS of course. The reason I asked about RA40 width is I found a post where a dude shoved an RT142 IRS in an RA40, and I beleive there are vast similarities between the RA40 and RA23 as far as floorapn and diff are concerned. Now I don't wanna put an RT142 diff in my car, 'cos they are a crappy design, but I'm just doing some reccy before I get a shell to do prototyping on. My ultimate goal is to get *A70 or JZA80 double wishbone stuff under there, but there is significant weight involved, and the track widths are significantly wider...

Good luck mate, its a tall order, I reckon that you'll need some specialist equipment to keep it straight.

An S13 rear end might be a closer fit if you want decent IRS. Heaps of aftermarket gear (diffs etc) available for them too.

IRS to RA23 Mon, 26 September 2005 02:56 Go to previous message
yep, S13 is definitely on my wishlist. They are of a much lighter design than the *A70 supras, and they should be relatively available, due to the excess of smashed up drift cars Rolling Eyes . As far as specialist equipment to keep the bugger straight, a modular design of high adjustability is required and planned, but careful placement of the brackets should ensure that it is pretty straight prior to adjustment.

Essentially, I'll have a shell to work on, so it is easy to prototype everything without having to worry about the road car being put out of action. All up, it shouldn't be an overly expensive exercise. As long as the planning phase is complete before anything is cut, altered or purchased, the main investment will be time.

Just out of curiosity, what are the widths of S13, R33 and MA70 rear ends?
