hey all i am thinking about buying a ESTIMA/TARAGO and i was wondering what would be the differance between the motor that is in it and a 3SGTE and if it could fit in.

depends what you get frist.. there were a few engine options...

ok the one i am looking at is the 4WD desiel turbo one ... and money is not really a prob cause i got the misses going halfs with me Smile. and i can do most of the work myself .
the motor i think would be close is a 3SGTE

The Rex has an Estima having an engine change at work. Sure it is a TurboDiesel but, whatever. The fact is that it is almost flat, Its configuration lays it almost 90deg onto its side.

And sitting underneath the vehicle it needs to.

I seriously doubt it will fit. A 3S-GTE is a bulky engine for a 4-cylinder, and Toyota did some pretty tricky things to fit the engine in those vans. For example, all of the accessories are in the nose of the vehicle well forward of the engine, and are driven be a small driveshaft from the front of the crank. Methinks it would be a major headache trying to make such a system work with another engine.

A 3T makes the 3S look small Smile

But yeah, I've seen the engine bays on those when sussing out gearbox options for a friend. I think you'd have major oiling issues happening.
