Is this definately head gasket ?

Driving home the other night, big cloud of white smoke billowing from the exhaust and smoke from the engine. No water in the radiator and very little oil when I stop.
Waited for the next morning and filled up the radiator and oil, but now the engine is rough as hell nearly undriveable and white smoke pours from the block somewhere.
I assume this is a typical head gasket leak?

Hmm damn I was contemplating driving to the mechanic but it sounds terrible and white smoke coming from the engine tells me not to.
Do you think its worth to get the gasket fixed or get a second-hand engine and do a light recondition on it ?
Cheers guys.

well, pul the head off and see if it is cracked or warped.... or take it to a head specialist and ask them to measure it and tell you if it is ok
shouldn't cost much...
but cheaper to decide after that

alloy, if it overheated badly you'll need a new head.

Thanks for all the replies, the engine is coming up to 200,000 on it now so I think I will just scrap it altogether and find a second-hand 4AGE to put in. It might work out cheaper.
Hmm or maybe now is the time to do a GZE in my AE82

Its a 4AGE from an AE82 twinky. Im in the throws of looking for another twincam at the moment so I can use mine for spare parts. Or just any run-around car. What a pain!
