my ae86 "slide86" long long time project (sorry 56k-ers) Sun, 02 October 2005 05:42 Go to next message
been a member of this forum for ages now and havent posted up my car. thought id better put a fews pics up and about.
i bought the car ages ago (years infact) already with a 4agze conversion.
it also came with disc brake rear end and tight LSD. it was a struggle to get used to going side ways so much haha Laughing

bout a month after buying it, the knocking noise in teh engine got really bad. after i stripped the engine i found 2 big end bearings had spun, check out how the coating is totally gone!

i had the block and crank and rods machined to take oversized bearings. while they were at it i got em to balance all the internals

while the block was away i started getting some other goodies lined up for the car

Just a question , how do you look at so many guages when driving ? I have just gotten rid of both my boost and oil temp due to never having a problem to look for , and the fact that when the right foot goes down there is no way you have time to look at shit apart from the road ahead . Wouldn't selling all those guages off , and using the money for something that makes the car go faster be a better choose . For a start maybe a apexi rsm? or something with a non reflective backlite led light would be much better for seeing then a glass/plastic guage , sure analogue is easier to read at a glance but would a flashing led or display for if there's a problem whilst driving be easier to spot then one of ten guages all moving around .

fair point. i suppose i could also use the microtech hand controller that im getting. that displays temp and the like. i guess i just like the look of the autometer gauges.
the two on the left are both temp gauges, so if there is a problem it would show on the gauge for a while, not just when im gassing.....thats the way i see it. but good comments
