rattle in exhaust

I put a new flange gasket on a while ago, was great for about 1 week, then gradually this rattle came into the exhaust at certain loads/revs.
So after looking over the whole system, shaking it and making sure nothing was loose or coming into contact with metal I came to the conclusion the rear muffler was stuffed, and this morning put a new one on. - which it was stuffed, but didn't fix the problem.
So the rattle persistsat certain loads, usually taking off slowly in first on slight hills etc. Not quite as bad, but still bad enough to be worrying.
Could the cat have shat itself? Would this cause a rattle like this? There was a fair bit of shit in the muffler when I took it off, and started the engine to blow anything in there out. - not sure if that indicates much because the baffles in the muffler were also well stuffed!
It's an ae92 with a 4afc

sounds like a cat, though if you shake and hit around the cat area, you should be able to tell

you have all the answers, stewart... I'll just park on a really steep hill and unbolt the flanges
I took it for a squirt around the block a few times with the muffler off to help with getting the crap out of there, plus it sounded fooly sick 200% drift spec. haha
I'll get it back up on the ramps tomorrow and see if the cat makes much noise when shaken and hit

For the record a new cat and a bit of damage to the wallet fixed the problem.
