Pretty much anything and everything has been done these days in the old RWD cars.
I saw a KE35 with CA18DET at Jamboree about 3 years ago.
Not sure if anyone on these forums has a CA in their KE though?

i'm hoping someone has, i want to find out about it as an option for my KE!
i wanted to stick with toyota, but they just dont offer a good RWD engine with a good gearbox and reasonable power, as nissan do i might have to go the sacrilegious path!

i don't want to start the whole SR vs CA debate but i would go SR, there is a huge market for spare parts for them and all easily obtainable.
Neither the SR or the CA would be particularly had to fit in the KE35 if you were a handy sort of person not afraid to get in and have a go.

Google search for the weights, wouldn't be much difference between them though.
Engineerable in Vic?? Ask the authorities/engineer. I would dare say it would be quite easily engineerable.

Yeah, im going to do it eventually. CA18DE and KE35, make a boonger drifter. It looks to be quite easy, and the CA gearbox fits in nicely.
I just need the car back to put the engine into.

so i could do it at home it sounds like....
i cant seem to find engine weights for CA18DET or SR20DET, all i get is full 'dorifto' silvias.
if any nissan heads around here can tell me it would be good!

hey, first post and hopefully its a usefull one!!!
CA18DET 128 kg
CA18DE 113 kg
SR20DET 149 kg
also depends on what aftermarket/performance parts you would have on it. The SR block is lighter than the CA block, but the complete engine is heavier (beefier rods, must more solid crank etc.), thus making the SR the heavier of the two. Hope this helps...

hey i was also looking at doing this on a price basis thing cuz ive heard u can get ca18det front cuts from 700-1300, but was wondering what the QLD rules are? , im thinking there tighter than the nsw and would be something like 1600cc turbo for a ke30????????
