1JZ stock oil pressure sender unit Thu, 06 October 2005 05:47 Go to next message
Hey all,

Im installing an aftermarket oil pressure guage on my soarer at the moment and I have one final hurdle to cross and thats the location of the stock sender unit for the factory guage...

mine doesnt work in the dash anyway so I figure ill remove the stock one and replace it with the Autometer aftermarket one but I am having trouble finding it...

anyone have any ideas where it would be?

Just check whether or not it's going to work. If the engine came out of a car with an oil pressure switch it may not work properly with a gauge.

I have an auto meter oil gauge, I ended up going the union bolt method for getting a signal. AFAIK the standard sensor is down near the aircon and is a PITA, you would have to remove the aircon condenser and PS pump to get too it???

I cant remember why i settled on what i did but i did and i think you know that i think you should do what i did even though i cant remember why i did what i did. Smile

Since you are single turbo just use the outlet from one of the old turbos. That is what I did. So much easier than trying to fit an aftermarket sended in the factory position!

But as long as you know what the normal reading is then I can't see it being a problem.

Do what it says in the link above. This is the best place to get the pressure signal from as it's right after the oil pump. Tapping into the turbo oil feed is probably the worst place to do it.
