7mgte generations Wed, 05 October 2005 22:53 Go to next message
Hi all,

Just a quick Q. I was wondering if the 7mgte came in any diferent generation variants like the 1ggte, 3sge, 4age, etc.

If so what are the pyhsical diferences?

Cheers all,
Ashlin.

u mean on soarer?
well the 7m soarer is the mz20 and the 1g soarer is the gz20
mz's mostly came wit the body kit and a few extras like full elctric seats
but all the soarers r messed around wit thing cause some 1gs have cruise control and some dont so its hard 2 tell wat ur gettin some times so u can tell by the rear rail lights if its a 7m or 1g casue it wither says twin turbo or 3.0 soarer or somethin like that.

actually interested in the motor itself, for example the 1ggte came in 3 diferent gen's throughout it's time. The 3s had 3 or 4 i think? Just wondering if the 7m came in any difernet gen's and if so did what was diferent about them?

The only differences I know of, are that the Gen1 has yellow ecu plugs and an idle screw on the throttle body, and the Gen2 has grey ecu plugs, and no idle screw on the throttle body.

Didn't the earlier 7m's have 6m cranks? (could rev out to 7200rpm) and later 7m's had double counterweight cranks? (could rev out to 6800rpm but smoother)

Kinda.

I've got a Gen2 7MGTE but it still has a 6M crank.
The 7M crank came in late in the piece.

The early 7MGTE's didn't have oil squirters either.

the late 7M crank is what the 1jz 2jz crank design is based off,

the rev limit is just an ecu thing as it dosnt make any more power in stock form after those revs 6m or 7m crank!

there is a VERY interesting 7m-gt soon to hit the streets of melbourne in the next few months, its runing on LPG and no its not mine (mine is boring compared to this...)
