Riceburna's celica #2 Sun, 19 December 2004 23:03 Go to next message
Hey peoples, after looking back on what was a potentially disasterous mission I have celica number 2 well 3 if you count the spare one out the back. Anyways this will be my girlfriends car and my daily driver when I can get it..

The trip from Melbourne ended up taking 16 hours and at one point I was going to leave it in Aulbry and try and sell it there as the oil rings had pretty much gone and it was also showing signs of a blown headgasket, but in true bulletpfoof Toyota style a bit of bushman mechanics and typical lack of thinking or any concept of self preservation from myself I got her back Very Happy

Over the christmas break she will be getting my old mildly worked 2T with the reco gearbox, and new diff centre,I will also put in the RA40 struts and bigger disc breaks off my old one aswell, while this is going on I will introduce my gf to the art of sanding and paint preperation Very Happy which Im sure she will enjoy Confused

Here are some pics, its rusted in all the usual spots, but should look like a million bucks in a month or so..

Nath

ARGH ARGH ARGH

16hrs huh? Total fuck of a day on Saturday... Too hot. Must have been fun all by yourself.

Where did you end up getting the wiper mechanism from? Were there any TA22 parts at wreckers in Melb? I have a mate with a 22 that would like to know.

Over the last 3 months I have done the following:

Back to bare metal prep of body
Cut out all rust and fixed with fibreglass as my welder mate didnt come through
KPH speedo
new temp gauge
All window mechanisms fixed front and back
Fixed wipers so now they work
new radiator
Purchesed new doors boot, bonnet, interior, rear tail lights

Its been a heap of fun and if weather permits will be sprayed next weekend..

Id like to put out a massive thankyou to Toymods and the people that have helped me learn so much during the build up of this car,ive had an absolute blast and met some great people along the way! I really didnt have a clue and while im no guru now im heaps more confident in undertaking mechanical tasks and really couldnt have done it without the help from everyone.THANKS!!

thanks guys!

What was meant to be 4 months took 10 so there was a heap of swearing and threats of burning the fokker but its all done now Very Happy

Unfortunately i dont expect it to remain in the best condition after my missus get her hands on it but its not meant to be a race or show car just a comfy reliable ricie!!

Been funny tonight, had the whole dash cluster go out,and wipers kick the bucket in torrential rain Crying or Very Sad Got the wipers working but cant get the cluster to light up at all Very Happy Ontop of that I cant fit the head deck in due to the heater controls. So still alot of running in problems to fix yet..

Absolutely loving it though! Cant wait to get the other bastards on the road aswell Surprised

Well she's gone Crying or Very Sad

Finally handed it over to the missus today, ive been having an absolute ball bouncing around with no radio or creature comforts. My cousin came up with the rest of the money to buy the maroon one yesterday so the ST is going to get the attention it deserves! Saying that there is a wide body shell with the mounts for a 4AGE that might follow me home and get turned into a cheap drift car in the near future Very Happy

I miss it already Sad
