AE86 in zoom Fri, 14 October 2005 12:33 Go to next message
I was reading zoom today (but am unsure if its the most current issue but i think its close), and came across an AE86 with a 1G-GTE. Its mods were 2 1/2 inch stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust and a pod filter. its power? 160RWKW's at 0.4bar!!! please explain how this could be?

A. Zoom is a good mag

B. A 1g-gte makes about 140rwkw stock. Running it with slight mods and slightly above boost, I dont see a problem with the figuires?

I have a mate who has gotten the same restults (1g in an ae86)

Well i have 103Kw's @ 6psi with a 3 inch dump only. I understand that i have a gen 2 and gen 3's produce about 200+Wks at the fly, however stock they are up around 10 psi thus i can't see how he only runs 6. i just have great disbelief that the mods and specs can produce such a large figure.

Well then logic would suggest its a Gen3.

As is my mates.

And theyre about 200bhp fly. not kw.

Ok, those figuires i mentioned before were from memory but I was close turns out it was:

142rwkw @ 13psi. (larger fmic)

hes then run a piggyback (s-afc2) tuned and voi la

166rwkw @ 14psi

I assumed it was running stockboost of 10psi, which i skimread and ofcourse 0.4bar is 6psi. So infact that does seem incorrect Wink

.4 bar = 5.8psi

zoom is a good magazine, and out of the offers from different mags wanting my car after it ran the 10.7 i chose zoom to feature my car.

all information is provided by the cars owner, so if you dont believe those figures, flame the owner of the car, not the magazine. dyno sheets have to be provided otherwise they will write (claimed) next to the power figure.

so pull your head out of your dolly mag and reading about 101 sex tips, and read a quality mag such as zoom.

It is more than likely 160rwhp that would be accurate to those specs. ~120rwkw.
