3SFE to 3SGE conversion

I have been offered a 3SGE out of a 92 celica with cpu and harness for a good price. Is it worth my time and money converting my 3SFE with this? Any been done and if so any problems with the conversion? Or should I go to a 3SGTE?
Thanx

I reckon if you are going to the hassle of a engine transplant, you may as well fit the better engine in the first place.
You will be going from 88Kw to around 110Kw (?) with the 3SGE swap, with the 3SGTE you'd go to ~150Kw.
If you can get the motor with all the fuelling components, ECU, loom, turbo and downpipe.. it would really help. I believe (although have no personal experience with this) that the MR2 Turbo gearbox is the one to use. Or go very very gently on your standard box.

Yeah man I'd say it'd be worth the while. A 3sfe to ge would be as simple as pulling out the 3sfe, loom and ecu, droping the 3sge in (uses same mounts), if the looms already connected to the engine bonus, and plug it into the ecu, it would be simple as.
Plus a nice little power hike.
easy... one question actually, 92 celicas didn't come with 3sge engines, they had 5sfe, so is it a 3sge?
however the 3sgte is an extremly difficult swap to do, I have done it and wouldn't recomend it.

The ST162 was manufactured between 1986 and 1989
I'm not sure, but the only big difference between the two engines is the head? (that is, the gen 1 FE and GE).

I am dropping in a mr2 3sge into my camry but its the same motor, the only problem you have is getting custom mounts made up if you want them stronger, or can leave the factory mounts in if you want, also getting someone to do the wiring other than that its a peice of cake to do .
Heres a site on info for a 3sge camry conversion, that motor in the pic will be mine soon . :

this is very very interesting.
seems the "official" Australian power stat for the gen2 seems quite low. Don't they always conservatively list power stats? Or is that just the old 147kw cap thingy.
Mesa wants a gen3 now
