Which tyre profile for 15s on rear 14s on front Wed, 19 October 2005 15:34 Go to next message
Ive currently got a set of mags i picked up fron the wreckers on my ra28 celica. They're beauties but not a perfect match.
15 x 7 for the rear and 14 x 7 for the front.
I put 205/50/15 on the rear and 195/50/14 on the front.
Its time to get new tyres and im thinking of going to a 60 series for a bit more comfort and to fill in the guards, also putting 205's on the front and 225 on the rear.

My question.. will it be noticable if i put 50s on the back and 60s on the front?? who thinks its a bad idea??

Pics in members rides under dukes $200 ra28...

Cheers Rolling Eyes

The wider tyres are at the 50 profile will have a higher side wall then your current tyres. Remember that the 50 is the percentage of the width, and the 225 / 205 / etc is the width in mm's, so 60% of 225mm is how high your sidewalls would be on the back is you change tyre sizes.

Is there even a 205/60/14 available??

225/60/15's aren't a super common size, there's a few brands make them. You may find that you can get a 215/65/15 in a better quality tyre. A 215/60 is only 10mm thinner then the 225 and it will have the excact same height sidewall as the 225/60.

Remember that it will change your speedo.

yep .. got it sorted today.
you were 100% correct with your advice filthman.. not that i ever doubted you.. Very Happy
went for a pair of 2nd hand dunlops for the front.. 195/60/14
and a set of fresh silverstones for the rear.. 225/50/15

pretty happy.. allot more tyre all round, can hardly tell the're a different profile from front to back.. what i was after..
although i was hoping for the rears to look a bit wider..and more performance tread.. but i know all tyres are different..and had to settttle..

ill put pics up for the end result..

cheers all Cool
