im just here expressing my anoyance
got my motor out of an ae86 halfcut, bout a week after
i started it in my car oil start's leaking out to rotor shaft(not pissing) so i buy another second handy, bout a week later after i put it in, it start's to leak
ok lets try to rebuild the fucker, took it apart and matched
a seal and bearing both from CBC, $10 for both items
now the old seal shatterd like plastic when trying to remove, but
was so hard it had made a groove in the shaft(not good), but
the new seal was 2mm taller so me not think seal working in same
position as original one(cant buy original), so me think i might
get away with it
NO NO NO
the fuckers is leaking again, but not as much as before
i think ill just let the prick leak till i get rid of the
dizzy and get an ECU and coil's running direct to plugs
DAMN DISTRIBUTOR OF PAIN

mine is leaking and I don't want to take it out ever again (I "accidently" put it in right and it finally worked after a whole day trying to get it off retard).

yeah both of mine leaked... everytime you gave it some stick the oil would leak through and onto the extractors... then burning the oil fumes and into the cabin!

This is a very common problem. There was a really good thread on this about 6 months ago and it went into how to change the internal shaft seal e.t.c. The seal that go's onto the outside of the shaft between the shaft and the head can still be bought from toyota for about $5. I got one not long ago.
I put an extra breather in my right hand side rocker cover and this helped.
Cheers,
Kurt.

Yes, but the O-ring you speak of seal's the dizzy housing to the
head, the drama is more the fact that the seal that seal's
the shaft and the dizzy housing can not be bought from toyota,
,the only part that toyota can supply is the O-ring for the outside.
I managed to match the inside seal and bearing but it was all for
poop's
Kurt.r, does your dizzy still leak? how did you go about getting
the extra breather?
Did you mod it or get two inlet side cam covers?

I had an additional breather on opposite rocker cover, with a crank angle sensor... and yes it still leaked. Very annoying

I too had the problem.
I did the replacement of the inner shaft seal, and it worked fine.
My dizzy also had another issue - a faulty pickup. I went to see Mike @ Dissy's Galore VIC ( Phone: (03) 9355 7899 ). He not only had a pickup, but also a dizzy that had this common Toyota inner leaking seal issue fixed properly (different seal and re-machined shaft or something...).
Perhaps give him a call if you are really wanting to fix it...hope this helps...

The extra breather almost completely stoped my dizy from leaking. I drilled a hole in the top of the cover and used a threaded fitting. I then had to weld a small plate on the inside of the cover with a few holes drilled in it to stop the oil from just pissing out through the breather. I didn't fit another left hand side rocker cover cause I didn't want to have 2 oil caps.
