im at work atm, but im pretty sure there was a "vpu recovery" option in the vga card properties.
find out what it does and turn it off to see if it fixes the prob.

Ok more questions

i just realised the fan on my graphics card isnt working so this is probably the source of my problems. i'm looking at buying a replacement graphics card fan or a bay cooler
http://www.zalman.co.kr/images/product_img/cooler/vf700_alcu01.jpg
http://www.pluscorp.com.au/website/displays/IMG_3302005112426.jpg
so i'm gonna need to take off the heat sink thats already on my card if i install the new fan coz it comes with its own heat sink.
1.is this likely to be firmly stuck down with thermal paste crap?
2.am i likely to damage my card in the process of removal?
3.is that replacement fan i'm looking at ok or is it shit house?
4.would the exhaust bay cooler thing be better?

thanks
chris

dw about them shitty coolers

http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=11
i baught one of these a few weeks back, best money i ever spent. its so quiet and blows all the hot air out the back. my case temp dropped 15 deg celcius when i put it in.
it will take up an extra pci slot though, and you will need to get the model that fits onto your vga card.
