Hi guys i was wondering if any of u technical minded people could explain what exactly is engine load. And also how does the load on the engine affect manifold pressure?
I hope this isn't a stupid question
thanks

basically load is when the engine has to work.
if you are sitting there in nuetral reving it there is no load.
if you go up a hill there is more load, down a hill there is less load.

Bear in mind that every engine is always trying to run flat out. It's only by throttling the airflow that we control them.
At low load (closed throttle), the engine is straining to pull air past the closed throttle, therefore, there is low pressure in the plenum.
When the throttle opens, a lot more air is allowed into the plenum, so the pressure rises.
At full throttle, there is minimal restriction to airflow, so the pressure is the same as atmospheric.
