1uz and 1jz soarer dash difference Thu, 27 October 2005 00:25 Go to next message
Hey guys,

As some of you would know, ive got a 1jz going into a hilux, the front cut i bought didn't have a gauge cluster.... i'd like to put a stock cluster in out of a soarer, but they seem thin on the ground.. can i use a V8 one? are they the same or different?

anyone know where i can get a cluster that will suit?

(oh and a soarer trans) Smile

What ecu are you using?

For starters the UZZ30 dash is setup for a 4cyl, where the JZZ30 is not.

The JZZ30 dash has an oil pressure light, and oil level light, where as the UZZ30 has neither (its in the 16 digit display, not a globe).

Apart from that I don't KNOW of any other differences.

With Z30 Soarer digital dashes, you want to match them to the engine/body loom so the matched sensors/gauges will actually work - ie with the JZZ30 1jz-gte TT Soarer from 91-93 alone there were no less than 4 completely different dashes depending on wether it was an auto or 5 speed and wether either was a base GTT spec or GTTL spec ; plugging a GTTL dash into a GTT will leave you without a tacho, water temp, fuel gauge etc and a tonne of error message on the info display/scroll line and vice versa.
A JZA70, JZX81 or JZX90 analogue dash would have to be easier and are readily available off the Yahoo auctions cheaply.

A Hilux one with the tacho rejigged to accept a 6 cylinder input.
Yes, Hilux tacho dashes do exist.

I have a JZZ30 dash spare, worked fine in the car it came from although i couldn't tell you if it was a GTTL or standard TT.
If you would like to buy it i can sell it to you but i am not ready to get rid of it at the moment. (couple of weeks maybe)

just get a mechanical spedo drive of a toyota 5 speed

most should bolt into yr gbox

even try the std hilux one into yr new gbox

with the tacho just get it modified

u will need a tacho booster
or tell the instrument guy that the 1j has a weak signal for tacho

or send the dash to me and ill sort it out

the temp sender should work ok with the hilux temp gauge
my 1uz sender works ok

fit the oil press unit from the hilux to the 1j

its piss easy
