although the bottom end is very similar the pistons are different (quite a bit less compression) so you would need to get new pistons or find 18r-g ones anyway. And if you have found a head plus all the other bits and pieces that are different(there are quite a few including the front engine convers, thermo housing, mainifolds etc) you will probably have found a complete engine anyhow. The best be is to get a full 18r-g. If it needs rebuilding it is possible to use some 18r-anything parts from the bottom end to complete your engine. I used some con-rods and a crank a dizzy and an oil pump from an 18r-c in my 18r-g build and never had issues. Upgraded to electronic dizzy and EFI not too long after and it was a good power boost. There are different 18r-g heads arround mainly ports and valves that differ.
