Really tiny small starter motors Wed, 02 November 2005 05:09 Go to next message
Hello all, i'm trying to overcome a problem on my 3S RWD conversion where the starter motor is hitting the steering column.

I am trying to chase down a really slim small starter motor. I've heard they do exist from people who have overcome this problem before. But we are unsure what they come from.

I'm going to head out to the wreckers on the weekend for a look around.

But good to have some ideas before I go.

edit... I should mention i've got my hands on a 3Y from a tarago, and a 2S from a SA63. Both are very similar in size.

Cheers
Joel

you might like to consider motorbike starter motors. they come in a bit range of sizes, mounting configurations and power. something off a like a 1000cc roadbike might do the trick. might need an engineering place to put your drive gear on the custom starter though. is worth a look id say.

Reduction gear starters are usually quite a bit thinner than the 'regular' ones, but sorry, don't have any recommendations as to which S motors had them Crying or Very Sad
