Brock never worked a 304 cos that was the VL engine and conincided with his magical polariser and his falling away from the HDT, the Group A realised only had 139kw and the Walky the second VL group A was efi hsv engine producing 180kw.

Corona RT142,
the brock motor ive got is the vk series 2 4.9 in the vk they had 3 v8's, 308 black 125hp (aprox), 304 black 128hp (aprox) and the 304 black 160hp and double the torque (aprox once again) this motor was the brock motor and also used in the bt1 (police persuit car), this is the motor that i have.

monkeymajik
I am after the cheapest power posible does not have to be the quickest thing around (that would be nice though Laughing )
there is a thread in here and it cost the guy a grand to do. buy a whole car that has a stuffed body and dump it or wreak the good bits off. i only want to spend 1200 max. all labour my self.

Car looks sweet as mate, love the idea of a lowlux, where its not so overtop its impractical.

Will look sweet with those 18s.

Have u considered a 7mge swap? wouldnt be to much different then the 5mge option and a bit more torque and potential there.

as long as the head gasket has been torqued right or taken care of, would be reliable power...around 200hp stock i think?

cheers

yeah thanx mate i built it cause i got 2 dogs a great dane and a rotty so i needed a ute so it needed to be practical still otherwise i would of smothed the tray made a roll pan etc, etc.
will the 7m bolt straight in like the 5m? how much more to buy a whole car? remember i want to keep the budget to a min. 150hp in a ute as light as this would do me, i got a gts monaro in the garage if i want to go out and have fun Very Happy

it is envy paint code is F6, it already has a shit load of metalic in it, more would be sick specialy on a 28 cause its so rounded. make sure u do it in 2 pac or you will be wasting your time. 2l base coat (simular to kermit green) no hardener, 4l top coat no hardener and 2l of clear with hardener. block back with 2000 wet and dry between eack coat and you will get a perfect job. key is to take your time. good luck

why are you going to a nissan motor as toyota have got plenty of motors that are as powerful (and then some)as the nissan and they cost roughly the same amount and probably take less modification to fit. I have been told that the "M" series of motors had the engine mounts in the same place as the 18r so 'apparently' they bolt straight in (this is something i have been told so dont quote me on this)

truck looks sweet dude, i got a bare 5ME that is gathering dust, no twin cams tho... Sad And if u do go thru with the engine swap any chance of taking ur crossmember off ur hands? (that is if ur replacing urs instead of modifying). I've got a crappy 4Y in my 88 'lux and a slightly warmed 18R and W50 in the shed that would go at least a bit better...
