What IRS would you use "IF" you have money to convert your AE86's rear end? Be realistic....

Hmmm, I did *once* reckon an S13 rear end grafted on would be kind of alright, just never really looked into it (figured cost would be unthinkable)

Actually I DO have an SA63 in the front yard rusting away... but also I'd say if you're gonna cut the whole car up to fit something like that, I'd be wanting multi link or similiar, not semi trailing arms

Absolutely, use something multilink, not trailing arms if you're going to butcher the whole back of the car.

If it was going to have to be a full customisation and bastardisation of the undercarriage then you really cant go past a WRX rear end IMHO

Arita Speed in Japan also did a IRS rear conversion with a S13 rear end, basically just modifying the supports with a bit of custom welded frames and a modified prop shaft.
