Is it very difficult? Straightforward bolt-in or more involved?

Do a search, general Auto -> Manual stuff is generic.

To be honest, unless you have a parts car, or access to the parts you will need (you will find the parts you need when u search Wink), it won't be worth it.

In my opinion if the car was released as manual and are easy to find in manual, it is better to sell your car (unless in fantastic nick) and buy a manual version.

ps, yep I've done an auto-> manual conversion (on a car not released in this country as manual).

Cheers
Wilbo

There's no such thing as a "supra box" Supra's had all sorts of boxes, one of them being a W58, which isn't all that different to the W57. The 58 is a bit stronger and has different ratios, not sure on specifics though. Whatever W box you can find will be fine for a stock RA60.

It is a fairly straightforward job, but it can be tough installing a gearbox for the first time. You'll be under the car wiggling, twisting pushing and bashing for hours without someone who's done it before.

The afore mentioned twisting and bashing is while under the car, holding the heavy-ass gearbox in the air as well.

Unless you find a crappy beat up manual RA60 celica with a good gearbox for cheap, then it probably won't be worthwhile. Just buy a factory manual.
