Help removing staples

I am currently in the process of re-doing my poker table and putting on new material (Vinyl and Felt) however removing the old stuff I am finding a pain.
There are about 1000 staples to be removed from wood. I have just been using a set of side cutters as it's the only tool I have the can get under the staples and pull them out. Removing the staples in the felt is not too bad, however the staples in the vinyl is quite difficult. Just wondering if there is a a quicker or more efficient way of removing the staples. Whilst keeping both the wood and material (I need to use them as templates) in tact.
Any ideas or tips would be much appreciated.

Long nose pliers, a simple normal staple remover may be able to get under them to or as above flat head screw driver.

Just leave it out in the rain for a few months/years, eventually they will rust away

OK, Well I'll video my attempts tonight so you can see the best one.
I just grabbed a staple remover from work, and I'll try a screwdriver, some long nose pliers and wire cutters.
I think letting it rust will kill the wood (Make it expand and put the dimensions out) and take way too long. Chainsaw and angle grinder will also kill the wood and take too long and teeth... might give it a go.

are you able to just cut the material away and not worry about the staples?
also i go with the flat blade screwdriver x2 one to get under the staple and the other to act as a seesaw and pivot the staple outward when you push down on the screwdriver wedged under the staple.
finally some chunky pliers to pull what is undoubtably one leg still left in the plyboard, no marks no mess.

you can get wood-working tools that have a head with a wide pincer - you:
-lever the staple up slightly with a butter knife or other flat tool (work flat edge under staple then rotate to life up slightly
-gently grab with the pincers and roll - up/out comes staple.
one of these will help:

Those tools are expensive though. Around $50-$70.. which is great value for those wanting to remove staples on a budget
