Fronts are 8.5inch with 235 tyres currently but will drop back to 225 or 215. The rears are 9 inch with 255 rubber. Still 5x100 but custom spacers so offset is irrelevant. Guards are rolled on the rear but will still scrape on big bumps. I might drop the rear back to 245 in a nice sticky compound, have to wait and see what turns up.

I finally made it to WSID for a run and after a bit of playing around laid down a 11.7@122mph. There was a quicker time there for the taking next up based on the 60' time i ran but i stuffed the change to 2nd, so for now it'll have to stand at 11.7.
That was on crappy Nankang street tyres so with some DOT rated drag rubber on the rear i should give a 10 sec run a bit of a scare....probably give the rears CV's a bit of a scare as well
WITZL will kindly post the timeslip for me...won't you Karl?

Amazing how much of the V8 sound it keeps and the lack of turbo whine.

It definitely has a very sweet V8 burble/roar exhaust note. You really only hear the turbos on lift off when the compressor surge does it's thing....it's a full on sound effects machine around the track with 2 turbos and a BOV all doing their thing slightly out of sync

It gets better economy than the 3SGTE ever did....until you mash the right foot anyway. 10lts/100km just cruising around.

Like many, i was keen to see this car at Toyotafest this year after reading about it in Speed et. al. Truly gobsmacked - appears to my non-mechanical mind to be such a complete conversion. The 1UZ fits very well - looked alot neater then the standard 3S powered cars that where there also. Love the fact that you can't even tell at idle what lurks beneath. Amazing work Justen *bows respectfully*

I don't need to tell you what an awsome car it is. Are you goin to enter it in the next summernats? I would love to see the look on all the peoples face when you bag em up in the burnout comp.

The unfortunate reality of the Summernats is that 90% of the people there appear to be total wankers...or at least using their 'wanker for a day' pass. It's just not worth the effort.
The GT8 isn't a show car either so it's more at home at the track or lower key events like Dubbo or ToyotaFest. At the end of the day i want wanted a beast of a car that looks reasonable and was built on a sensible budget.....chromed brake rotors just aren't my thing. If we had a SEMA type event here in Oz i'd probably give that a shot though.

I have been trying to track down details on this car for a long time now. It's nice to see the facts, and find the man responsible for it. Keep us updated with any new video or pics.
I sent you an email.

The car is fully engineered and passed an ACT rego inspection...can't get more legal than that. Certain aspects change for track duties but these aren't relevant when assessing road legality or not.

Yeah, there's nothing close to this here in the States. Most people are too afraid to stray from anything other than a 3S-GTE on the ST185's.

There's no power/weight/capacity scale for the ACT. Pretty much any engine conversion can be legally registered if the certifying engineer passes it and it makes the usual road safety inspection at rego.
Case in point, my current proj is a 13BT into a KE10 Corolla. No chance in NSW, no probs in ACT....come live in the happy land mate
