Timing Lights Fri, 11 November 2005 07:43 Go to next message
Yep a lot of things have been shitting me lately and timing lights are one of them.
I went and bought a one of the above from supercrap(Supercheap?) the other week thinking that if I got one of their more expensive ones it would be all good. Anyway I have been using this thing the last few day and i'm finding it extremely fuckin difficult to get the damm thing to trigger! Fuck!
I need a god damm timing light that actually fuckin works!!! And I mean works all the time, not just once every 400 damm revs!

Can anyone recommend a decent Timing light? Where to get one? What to stay away from? And how much roughly do I need to spend?

Oh and yes I know, buying at supercrap is bad. Lesson learned Sad

i dunno wat it's like as far as accuracy goes, but the $40-50 jobbie i got from K-Mart is great to use and good value... has rubbery end near light, spare flash tube/globe, and never had an issue with triggering, even for long periods of time (minutes of running)..

recommended.

this might sound stupid but....some timing lights (ie the one i use at work) have an arrow on the pick up clamp which tells which way to put it on.
the arrow should point in teh direction that the spark is flowing. ie from the distributor to the spark plug.
if its on the other way then you will get the exact problem that you have described....give it a try, see if it changes anything
