Accident at BP? Perths Supply of Ultimate Affected? Sat, 12 November 2005 13:22 Go to next message
Just recieved an email saying that BP had an accident of some form yesterday and the Perth's supply of BP Ultimate 98 RON may not be available untill december.

Dont know how true this is, or whether other states supply may be affected as well?

Has anyone heard anything about this?

DV, BP Ultimate is the only 98 octane fuel sold here in WA.

On my way to the WRC today, I filled up. While I was there I saw two people (both in WRX's...) attemping to fill up with Ultimate, both pulling about $3 from the pump before giving up.

Looks like it's a good time to invest in octane-booster stocks Smiley =

I happened to stop at a BP tonight and noticed that all the Ultimate pumps were out of order/stock. I wonder if it's because of this alleged accident or if it's just a coincidence. Confused

Man thats gotta suck, gonna cost a bit in the meantime for you guys to buy some octane boosters every tank or just putter around on 95 ron fuel. As for the argument that BP ultimate is crap, i'd beg to differ of the three 98 ron fuels i have used it's by far the best in terms of economy and the car just seems a little more respnosive using it.

agree on economy.

i get the worst mileage from shell fuels (around 400km a tank). mobil is only a small amount better, and caltex is almost as good as the BP stuff (over 600km a tank) Smile

Terra, as informative as that is,

it still has nothing to do with the fact that we have no BP Ultimate (98 octane) in Perth.

Quote:

stolen form perth streetbikes forum:

"not trying to give the servo i work out business but,

the truckstop on 549 abernathy rd kewdale gets the fuel pumped directly from next door (tank farm). we had over 20,000 liters last night when i dipped it and we dont sell much ultimate.

if/when we do run out we will be the last to run out and the first to get it back again. "

BP Employees (I work at BP Bulwer Island in Brisbane) got a "Confidential" e-mail last week saying that supply in Perth and Adelaide may be affected due to an unplanned outage of some equipment. (Seems like public domain knowledge now...) This will affect 95 and 98RON. We make Ultimate here in Brisbane so I don't give a toss what happens in Perth Razz Not sure when the equipment is coming back online (although their Reformer seems to be working as of yesterday, so will take a little while for the good stuff to start flowing again.)

yep confirmed , i gave the guy 20 questions the other day at the BP Karrinyup

he didnt wanna say much but said it was a problem with electrical equipment and it will be at least a month with no 95 or 98 also at my work (im a senior call center agent) we do BP refinery emergency calls , and a call came through the otherday regarding an electrical malfunction and spill at the refinery.

oh well, Shell can take my next $200 worth of fuel ...

BP Kewdale has no Ultimate either - ran out this morning.

This whole situation is f*cked. Somebody senior at BP Kwinana needs to lose their job over this.

that could be why shell is normally 2 - 4c cheaper than all other stations Excluding Woolworths because we all know what they sell isnt even really petrol Laughing

Yer. BP in Templestowe ran out of Ultimate too. Asked to dude when we might be looking at getting some back. He reckons early December. *sigh*

BP's Kwinana refinery is back up and running their Reformer now so supply should start back up to Perth by this weekend. May take a bit longer to get to Adel, Mel, Syd etc.

I think Syd gets premium from Brisbane (and our alky was shut down for quite a while last month) so Syd should be getting restocked soon.

Yeah I noticed all the pumps at BP where out too.

Something else too. The other day when I went in to BP to find they had no ultimate. I then went down to Shell that is about 1km up the road and noticed an interesting price difference.

BP 91: $1.23/ltr
Shell 91: $1.12/ltr
Shell 98: $1.22/ltr

I was getting Shell 98 at less than BP 91! Has the high octane fuel shortage at BP forced their regular petrol price up?

I noticed this too the other day, Woolworths (Caltex) fuel 109.9 before discount for 91 ron fuel, thrn drive past BP about 2kms where I normally fill up and its still 123.9 for 91 ron fuel.

Cool, i'll check it out.
I put some normal vortex in my car the other day and man did that suck! It felt laggy and didn't pull much when on full boost. It feels better now, maybe the ecu had to adjust to the new fuel or something. I might make vortex 98 my new fuel since bp ultimate seems to be non existent and you can get those 4c off per litre things with caltex.

We haven't had BP ultimate at work for weeks, Refinery issues apparently. As for Vortex98, it's a mythical, imaginary product that exists only in T.V. adverts.

I've never seen it for sale ANYWHERE, EVER. I checked Caltex's website and it's not for sale ANYWHERE within 150km of Melbourne. Pfft,,, Caltex . . . Laughing

I don't BELEIVE that BP is STILL out of Ultimate.

This has got to be seriously effecting their future sales.

I wonder if it's had an impact on their regular sales?

its a new problem dude the other one was solved as I managed to get a tank of ultimate between the shortages. It shits me as the supra needs ultimate or Mobil and there is only one mobil within about 20mins of my house that I know of and it doesn't have synergy 8000.
