info on a 4a-ge into a TA22 Tue, 15 November 2005 07:25 Go to next message
i did the search function but only found a few mild bits of info on the conversion. i would like to know exactly what is needed to put a 4a-ge into a ta22.
like what fuel system will be needed
what diff and tailshaft to suit a t-50 jdm
what mods to crossmember and gearbox cross member
any holes to be cut in the floor for the shifter?
everything...
any info would be great.

Towards the bottom of that thread might be of some help to you.. he's used the standard 2t crossmember, with custom mounts that take ford cortina pads (rubber bits for the mounts). There's something in there about getting copies of the mounts made up, or giving away the measurements for them.

yeah my message read about like this :

the drivers side one uses the std 2t mount with the flange facing the block cut off.

it measures 101mm from the face of the flange on the block at the top and 70mm from the face of the flange on the block at the bottom
that should give you the angle you need. actually if you cut n shut the std 2T one to those lengths including the face plate you should be on a winner.

the passenger side used a ae86 mount modified.
at the top its 115mm from the flange to the top
at the bottom its 60mm from the flange to the bottom
the right hand or the starter motor side of the mount had to be shimmed out 4mm to make it sit right

i used 35mm ford cortina pads as mounts. circular pads with a bolt straight thru them basically.
