Ok what the things you should do before buying a used car personally? I dont mean looking over it to find any problems. I mean how do you check to see if its not stolen or to see if any money is oweing on it? What info do I need to do this?
Thanks.

If you buy from a dealer you don't need to do a revs check as it is the dealers responsibility to ensure the vehicle isn't stolen/doesn't have money owing on it before selling.
It costs about $50 to have a revs check so this saves you some cash.

I think I did a revs check a while back and they told me over the phone, didn't get a cert. though.
You just need the chasis NO. and engine No for the check I think.
Register for Encumbered Vehicals (rev)
if you have to find the number.

You can do it for free here, but you don't get the certificate to save your ass. That's what u pay for.

Ok I found out that that I need Rego number, VIN number and Engine number! Then I can ring up and pay $10 by credit card and get all the info over the phone and then they post a Cert out to me!
