RA23/28 fibreglass panels - SA Thu, 10 November 2005 02:09 Go to next message
Just letting people know that I plan to buy some fibreglass panels in the nearish future.

If anyone else wants to buy some let me know. The more bits we buy, the better the prices get.

Here's what's available and the retail prices:

front guards: $250 each
Front apron: $100 each
Bonnet: $600 (double skinned)
RA28 Hatch $475

They are made by a company called Streeter by Streeter in Queensland that specialises in Corolla and Sprinter bits.

Not really sure when I'll be ordering, but let me know if your interested in joining in on the buy.

streeter by streeter?? thats nick streeter's business in brisvegas isnt it?? he used to be in cahoots with another bloke and had the celica shop. used to have their business card, dunno where it is anymore. that price on the front apron is good, i got quoted 120 by them when i was down there at the start of last year. as for the bonnets, is that with all the hinge mounts, bonnet catch and heat vents installed?? also, does he do ta22 bonnets. in which case, i would be interested in 1 of each, probably a front apron for the RA23, and a TRD style chin spoiler for the TA22 if available. on top of that, the 1600GT style duck tail would be nice too, and probably some fibreglass fenders for the 22, with flairing for wide tyres. keep us informed on what he wants to do, and hopefully the prices will go down.

Cheers, Owen

Owen, you are right about the business being involved with a celica shop in the past. No idea where in Queensland they are.
I was dealing with a guy named Ken when I called them.

I got the impression that the bonnets are ready to bolt into all the stock points, but I didn't specifically ask that.

I have no idea if they even do TA22 stuff anymore, they may have done in the past, but that's not really of interest to me.

Ideally I'm looking for people in SA who want this stuff, and that will work out better for postage.
I don't know if the prices will be any better if they have to send the stuff to all sorts of places.

From what I could tell from a short conversation they don't have molds for an RA23 boot, so I don't reckon they'd have molds for a ducktail, if they did, I'd be getting one too.

I have no idea if they have molds for TRD chin spoilers, but I seriously doubt it.

Thanks for the intersts everyone, once I get people PMing me itemised lists of what they want I will contact Ken again with questions, but until then I'm going to sit on it.
I'm waiting for someone in SA to get some money together before I send in an order.

If anyone wants any special bits like TRD chin spoilers or ducktails, you'll need to find a perfect sample and send that to them. If you can find a sample, I'm sure you will find others willing to buy them, like me for example.

Absolutely no idea how much it would cost to ship it to perth.
That would all depend on how much their freight company want to charge and whether or not you could find any other people in Perth that would want some stuff from them.

Not 100% sure

I cant see why the front guards and aprons wouldn't be.

Bonnets and hatches might be illegal, it woul dbe best to check the regs in your state.

Gday again,
Could you pass on some contact details if your not willing to organise anything for ppl that arent in SA please. Also, wrt fibreglass panels and street legality, as long as you do not replace structural points with glass, its all good. If you do wish to replace structural points with glass, you need to consult an engineer who specialises in composite structures. There are cars on the road (lamborghini for example) which are pretty much completely glass or other composites. But as for apron, bonnet, guards, hatches and bootlids, thats fine. You can even replace your door skins as long as you have side intrusion bars, or fit them if you dont. At least thats the regulations in qld... other states should be the same.
WRT the mounting points for the bonnets etc, i was just asking cause i thought you might have asked about that... last i knew they did, at least they were putting them in when i went and saw them at the start of last year. They are on the southside of brisbane.

Cheers, Owen
