Hey Guys,

I noticed i had coolant slowly leaking out of my 3K somewhere i thought it could have been a welch plug behind the flywheel or exhaust but i was wrong it is coming out of the plate on the back of the head.

Now to fix this do i just throw some gasket sealant behind there or is there a proper way to fix it, was there a gasket for it?,

Any help will be appreciated,

Cheers Trent

im not to sure of the features of the 3k head trent, but is the plate easily removable?

If so take the time to remove it, clean it up with the wire buff then use loctite or similar gasket maker or sealer and re-install.

be bloody careful not the break the rusted bolts when you take the plate off.....

if you do, a whole bunch of epoxy and some chux superwipes will hold it for a while Wink

As said earlier be very carefully not to break the 6mm bolts, if you manage to get them out replace them regardless just because they will quiet often bust as you are doing them back up, also the real early (big port from memory) 3K cyl heads have a welch plug instead of the tin plate, that could be more tricky, wort comes to worst its not a big job to do a head gasket on a 3k anyway, and gives you a chance to clean up some ports!!!
