18RG Oil Pump Shaft and flow rates Wed, 23 November 2005 06:10 Go to next message
Does anyone know if there is a shaft out of any other model engine that would be the correct length and diameter to use as a replacement oil pump shaft. I have the high flow 18RG pump currently which has snapped the shaft.

The pump section is attached with a pin but I need to find a compatible shaft without taking the sump off every car at pick-a-part.

Does anyone know the actual difference in flow rates / volume between the 18RG oil pump and the 18R / 20R / etc.

Thanks

(Unless anyone happens to have an 18RG oil pump just lying around???)

Do you have a spare 18RG pump? I would be interested in that. How much do you want for it.

I figure that Toyota used the higher flowing pump for a reason after whatever testing they did on the engine, so I really want to keep the RG pump in it.

I know what the RC pump looks like so I don't need the dimensions, I was just interested in the actual flow difference.

I have been told by a guy at a Toyota parts dealership that one of the early M series engines had the same part number for the oil pump rotor (the bit that is not the same as the 18R). It might have been an M or a 2M, can't really remember for sure though.
Either way the part in no longer available from toyota.
