4agze and s/c oil Thu, 03 March 2005 03:04 Go to next message
Hey guys after noticing my engine and s/c levels are abit low, i think its time for a refill. now after doing a search on here and, i have come to the conclusion that

Castrol syntrax 75w-90 is a very common choice for supercharger oil,
and penrite 15w-60 comes in highly recommended by 4agze users

so should i stick with these oils for now and give them a go? or does anyone else have any other oil they want to recommend

cheers

Sorry to hijack, but I've been trying to find out the length of the SC12 oil dipstick for ages. Could someone please walk out to their car and measure the distance from the face of the wing nut to the markings on the dipstick. I'd be indebted to them.

Thanks
Hen

Just went out an measured mine.

I measured after the thread on the wing nut.

Total length: 113mm
Low mark: 103mm
Full mark: 60mm

Hope that helps.

i recomend a light synthetic engine oil for the s/c. i used to use 5w(cant rember but it was of low viscosity) Mobil1 synthetic engine oil. IMO heavy gear oil is too thick, look at the genuine stuff that come out of it, it's nice and thin and actualy smells like lanolin.

agreed, im also running the mobil 5w.. id be running the 0w if when i needed it i could find a 1L bottle... shop only had 5L which i thought was overkill Razz

but look at the stuff coming out there is no way id be putting a 70w oil into there.
