Speaking of, I heard all the nice WRX persuit cars we had in Victoria got crashed 'cuz the cops couldn't handle a real sports car.

i dont think thats true.

i heard that they kept blowing turbos.
scenario: they would sit on the side of a freeway and the engine would get cold, then they would gun it to catch up with a speeder then turn off engine without letting turbo cool. the costs of replacing turbos was too high so they scrapped them. i havnt seen a cop wrx for at least 4 years.

No, the WRX's were scrapped because they weren't big enough. What happens when a 1600kg Commodore bashes into a then 1290kg WRX?

Special ops in NSW used to have an STI, saw it on one of the big drug raids a year back. Haven't seen it since.

Crashes weren't the only problem, initially some of the coppers didn't fit in especially with all the equipment ie compuetr and other stuffs.

Doesn't really matter these days as straightline speed of the SS's and XR6 turbo especially roll on axe the wrx. Only advantage is chasing them round cities.

Not to mention they were brought in to chase other rex's and since fitting the brant car alarms the only rex's to be stolen since then have been from the docks before the alarms are fitted. And of course any older rex still on the road that haven't been retrofitted or punted into trees by owners Razz .

I remember the WRX cop cars being scrapped for somthing to do with the radars not working properly due to them not being able to mount them properly.

Has anyone seen the little cop SMART cars in syd yet?
But basically the buggers are in everything, they have everything from old combies to new monaros just depends what they are trying to stake out and in what area they are doing it in.

you may be confusing cops with detectives/feds.

Meh the cops in NSW have a huge variety of cars as most are donated to them to trial/give free publicity for them. think about it see an odd police car and you notice it for sure.

Alfa has given them a few has has BMW with the new mini's when they were released.

Haven't seen one of the smart cars yet but it'd be amusing, only question though, it'd merely be used to ferry the foot patrollers aroudn as its not like you could detain someone and put them in the back (though that would be good punishement on its own Razz .

I've seen a VOLVO around the North Shore area, and also seen the Smart Cars in the city...

We get a few Camry's and echo's coming into work too, all undercover cars... Some detectives and some cop cars...
