how does the 4x4 set up work on these corolla wagons? are they like full time 4x4 with just normal diffs? like what does the "lock" button do on the dash?
if I'm hooning around in the wet how many wheels will actually be driving?

any kinda info on these cars would be awesome.

the tercel is an open awd with lockable centre diff
all 4 wheels will drive until one wheel slips
with the centre diff locked you will get power to at least one wheel at front and one at rear
there is no lsd devices
....but what would i know?

ok cool so it's making sence now, one of the main things I was thinking about was wearing tyres out while driving in a "fun" manner with the centre lock enguaged. so yeah not the same principle as when i get out in the pooring rain in my dads fj40 landcruiser to lock the hubs and then having to unlock them the second we get back to tarmack to stop the tyres getting shredded Smile
.....or something like that.

How about an ARB air locker out the back and an LSD at the front, or a soft locker at the front ?

On a full time 4wd the centre diff is there to stop axle wind up.
