Now i am under the assumption that since the AFM has not maxed out it shall still be adding fuel along with the air. So what could be dodgy about that?
Point correct. It will fuel right up until it runs out of resolution, then it'll feel like you broke it, and you'll have a sore neck Wink

Big Rob wrote on Mon, 28 November 2005 10:30

Hey ndqcpr, yes is the same one as off ebay. If you have it sitting just bellow 10 psi, you are pretty much running it at stock levels. Aproxximatly 9psi is stock. I think you can go all the way up past 16psi before hitting boost cut or so but the little CT12's wont be anywhere in their efficiency range. Pump it up a little and you will love it more.

My stock level was 7psi also. I'm lucky to get to 14psi before I hit boost cut.

I would say search the thread but it would take a year lol, shoulda just bought a manual Razz

Hey matt i know a few people who are waiting on head gaskets, he imported it from the states or something and it has been a good couple of months. Those wheels look funny, it would have been cool to drive it around though, like a little monster truck. Those wheels would kill your hubs too wouldn't they?

yer they arent too kind on the hubs, but I only did a total of about 50km's on them with no harsh cornering, so I doubt they did any damage...plus we checked too see if they were greased up good before we put the wheels on...luckily enough they were Smile

OH MERUDO!! pulsar dood has ur old car!! hehe

he does?

wicked Very Happy

i've got the manual crossmember, bellhousing and slave cylinder for a manual conversion still if you want to buy the stuff off me. When I had the car I had been collecting stuff and was going to do a manual conversion

but then conveniently (not convenient for my wallet) decided I wanted to save and do a full 1J conv. instead!

but then I had to sell the car. Sad

if you want the stuff off me, you can get it off me

cheers

and JCMF (post when i did!!!) you blew your first ones at 12 though right, hence why i will keep mine where they are.

I haven't blown any turbos Rolling Eyes They're still going, they've hit 18psi when my ECU decided a boost cut was optional, I'd have them set higher than the 13-14psi they're currently at in a heartbeat if only I could keep it from boost cutting.

soarted bruva: Is that your car in the avatar? It looks the same as Rossco’s and AFAIK he had a TD07 as well?

Your car is the first car I have heard of with a built 1jz. Some people have cams and head work but I have never heard of anyone upgrading the rods, pistons etc. as most will go to a 2jz block at that stage. I am very interested to see how much power your car makes. I know you may have mentioned it but could you make a full list of mods? Thanks

With the setting I have it on now, it doesn't often boost cut. Just occasionally when I nail it in 2nd, it usually happens below 1 bar, so I think it's the stupid flap-type AFM playing funny buggers.

Oh, and I ONLY nail it when it's fully warm Wink

20psi and no boost cut, WTF!? It would appear someone has played with the spring in your AFM, there is no way it should be able to let that amount of boost.

My 1G is manual, but that shouldn't matter. Octane booster isn't going to assist at all, the boost cut is simply a matter of the amount of airflow coming into the engine. When it gets to a pre-determined point, it cuts.

try taking ur airfilter off so its just pure air flowin..i dont kno..i kno that if u put a high psi on like these small turbos then its a sudden boost and then the turbo wears a bit and then slowly doesnt give u as much boost later and later on..if u get wat i mean
like over time .i dont kno..
plus my boost controller is sum cheapy 30bux 1

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Evil or Very Mad MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I so want one of those lips now! Add that to the list of unobtainable items: side skirts, rear pods, lip.

Ahh now i am also thinking of getting my car painted two tone. That looks sooooooo cool. I doubt though that it would be road legal, looks like the front bumper support would have to be cut through or something. But then again, it doesnt look like its for road use as it has a full cage and bonnet pins. Except for the fact it has a licence plate. Ahh thats an awosme soarer.

hey mate maybe run it down the 1/4 n c wat it runs if it doesnt fuel cut 2 much
i ran a 14.7 but i kno i could have gotten a bit faster but yeh thats a stock 1g auto
before when it was on stock boost i ran a 16.2 best which sux 4 a tt but yeh wacked 1.5 secs off my time wit just boost

It's run on the quarter with two 15.3's because I can't launch. It had enough mph for an easy low 14, and thats still with no power above 5000rpm.

soarted bruva: Is that your car in the avatar? It looks the same as Rossco’s and AFAIK he had a TD07 as well?

Your car is the first car I have heard of with a built 1jz. Some people have cams and head work but I have never heard of anyone upgrading the rods, pistons etc. as most will go to a 2jz block at that stage. I am very interested to see how much power your car makes. I know you may have mentioned it but could you make a full list of mods? Thanks

Chris

Yeah Chris, thats my soarer in the avatar. Think Rossco's is black and silver two tone where i've got gold down the bottom half. TD07 has now been replaced as of hours ago with a GT35/40 BB turbo (TD07 now for sale, anyone?) I'll have some figues 2morrow once we tune and do a dyno run. The car was previously used for drags in japan and was meant to have been putting out 700hp as well as having a fair bit done to the motor. Mods that i'm aware of are
TD07 turbo (now replaced)
Custom manifold
HKS external wastegate
was running hks F con V pro plug in (replaced with microtech,
Huge FMIC
Large injectors,
aftermarket fuel rail
cam and adjustble cam gears,
forgies,
strengthed valve springs,
GTR fuel pump,
3.5 cat with high flow cat
Adjustable coilovers all round

Think thats it. We got 270rwkw @16psi last week but 2morrow's dyno sheet should be a lot more impressive if we finally have no hurdles in turning up the boost this time

Hey guys, well my car was runnign awsome till i filled up today. Last time i filled up a week ago it was with optimax and brought the car back to being responsive and felt much more alive. I was so pleased but then today i put regular unleadd in it and it is now sad and mopy. Can knock sensor die and go crazy, pulling tonnes of timing as the car never used to be like this?

Any ideas

Yeah, don't ever put regular unleaded in it. At a bare minimum feed it a diet of premium, preferrably 98RON. I can imagine it would be pulling shitloads of timing out of it to suit the crappy fuel!

I always fill mine with ultimate now, i used to use optimax once but i don't anymore, i like ultimate better.

And there is no stories of anyone blowing there turbo's below 14PSI? hmm, i think i am gonna be "fully sik" and bump it up to 8.5PSI/12PSI.

Now TT_50AR are you reading 20PSI at the gauge, because as i have posted in the tech section it seems that my gauge is out, That boost reading i have posted is Dyno guys/my boost gauge. so its running 12PSI on my boost gauge but the dyno guys reckon the dyno read 8.5. i reckon its going harder and that my PSSHH (even if its back pressure through the AFM sound so much better now Smile.

Not on 1G's, they have steel wheels.
