Yep take the steering wheel off first thing, just check to make sure the wires are still connected to the buttons etc.

Could also be a fuse?

There is an online Toyota Manual... unsure of the link thought ( i have it at home), someone else here should know it.

Hope this helps.

The cruise control module is a small box a bit larger than a cigarette packet. Mine is a light green colour and is situated in under the dash just to the left of the steering column. Its not easy to get to - but it can be done without removing the whole dash.

Good luck.

hey again guys,

i am re visiting this post again as i very much would like to get my cruise control fixed, i have pulled the module out and it doesnt look to be burnt out, replaced all the fuses in the car unless there is one hiding, have tested to see if there is any current at the actuator but there is none,

Any ideas guys would be great, also what and how to test certain things

hey edit after what i found out in last hour or so,

Switch wasnt working but now when i chech the resistance across the switch it changes when i press any of the three buttons

When cruise control is on there is no power what so ever getting the to actuator and other various things in the engine bay when it is turned on.

Oh the little light comes on when i press the cruise button!!!
.....Have to start somewhere.

To be honest this is a little out of my league but how am i ment to learn if i dont try.

As far as i am aware the buttom tells the cruise module to turn cruise on which controls the actuator which inturn controls the acceleration. Dont know how right i am, as i said i am open for anything.

regards again

here would be some useful reading:
TSRM for MA70 (US version, but basically the same car)
<http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/index.h tml>

cruise control system starts here:
<http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/be/BE_0 58.html>

but description of system starts here:
<http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/be/BE_0 61.html>

the resistance might change across the switches when you press them, but are they connected to the cruise control box? and does the earth that they switch to actually earth?

the lack of voltage to the actuator suggests that the cruise control does not want to set a speed for the engine. The cruise control light turning just indicates that the crontroller is getting power and can power up.

anything could be stopping it from enabling: stop light on, clutch engaged or in auto in neutral, handbrake on, dead speed sensor, transmission ECU not connected correctly.

also, cruise control needs a speed signal (either from the gearbox or from the dash) - have you been working in either of thse places lately?

cheers,
charles.

if cruise l;ight comes on means the unit is turnin on

have u done a conversion or an auto to manual swap

there is afew things than need to be switched for the actruator to work

its had to test it by just checking for power at the actuator

it works a different way
