hey im just reaserching diffs atm for my datto and was just wondering has any 1 used or know much about toyota troop carrier diffs. theres one ive found it has disks and callipers. its says it has D and R strengthening, whats this?
the reason im contemplated this diff is because no matter what i get i must shorten it anyways. options atm are r31 silo diff and a hilux diff.
cheers ben

Landcruiser diffs are damned heavy, and have the offset centre just to make things unbelievably difficult. Hilux diff is still a bit heavy, but a MUCH smarter choice. Having already done the bogwarmer diff thing once myself, I wouldn't do it again...

thanks for that. didnt realize they were that much heavier than a hilux. so you didnt like the borg warner option. may i ask why it caused you so much grief that you wouldnt do it again?

The bogwarmer:
1. Can't get lower than 4.1 gears for it
2. They're always noisy
3. The standard LSD wears out quicker than you look at it, which means shelling out $$ for an aftermarket one
4. The early Hilux diff is already the right width for Corolla conversions

And changing centers on a BW isn't an easy thing to do by yourself where as the Hilux diff is as simple as unbolting it and bolting the new one in.

thanks for that mate. my search told me that its a RN25(?) diff or something along those lines that are that narrow.
my cars not here atm but from memory the track outside to outside wheel was only like 1450 and i wanna run 225 street and 8 inch slicks so i think itll still be to wide.
cheers mate
