Can 20V bottom end fit 16V Head ?
Who has done this before? if possible Do the valves clear the piston. Even if you have cams with 8.35 lift

do a search to verify, but im pretty sure the 16v and silver 20v bottem ends are the same(apart from pistons, but they should fit anyways).

Why would you want to fit a 16V head to a 20V bottom end?

What 16V are you using? Smallport or bigport?

big port.
So you get the hybrid setup!

Just like a 100kw bottom end and 86kw head.!

The best two bits.

have been told they fit but when i pulled the head off they look to different.

dotn have a computer or loom for 20v, plus i have been told there not that good engines anyway. 20V are cheaper than 16V now. Even a 86kw.

Johnny;

Are you 100%? I assembled something like this a couple of nights ago with std bigport cams & there were no marks on the bluetak on top of the piston Razz however with the piston at TDC I couldn't get much more than 20deg of the lobe down, so she's defntly an inteference setup...

cheers

Ash

You'll change the combustion chamber's shape which may affect the way the mixture would ignite, ie cold spots... blah blah... I didn't say it couldn't be done, but what I was implying was it might not be wise to.

in short, yes. however you will likely bend a valve if/when the cam belt breaks. The 20V pistons are not ideal for this use. you will also need the 16V oil pump and water pump, as the front plastic covers for the 16V won't line up on 20V stuff. also, you must use a 16V head gasket, as the 20V has quite different water passages. I dont think this is real clever idea, but hope this helps
