ive been offered a badly damaged mr2 with the 3sge beams engine, i want to put the engine in my 1981 ke70 corolla using the beams loom and ecu but i noticed that the mr2 ignition barrel has an imobiliser, the keys are not with the car so can i just order a new one from the chassis number from the dealer and does it need to be re coded

the key has a coded chip in it and the senser ring around the mr2 ign barrel reads the chip in the key and will imobilise the ecu unless you have the correct key.
i dont plan on using the mr2 ignition at all, i want to tape the key on to the senser ring so the ecu is not imobilised

Taping the key to the sensor probably wont work.
Most keys dont have a battery in them, and even some that do (commo), only get activated when inserted into the barrel via a coil that runs around it. Kinda a smart idea. But not for you in this case.
For those that dont understand this, a coil of wire is energies aroundt he barrel, which creats a small magentic feild. When the key or anything passes thourgh this coil, a small electrical charge is induced and powers the chip momentarily to send out its 'key' signal.
A better option is to probably remove the lock all to gether, get a wiring diagram and either ground the pin form the ecu or send it what it want to know.
